Glasgow:

After conquering the British Lions in the recent Test series, the Indian cricketers are now preparing for the Scottish bravehearts.

Rahul Dravid's side will play a limited overs game against the minnows on Thursday, looking to get back into one-day mode before they take on England in a seven-match ODI series.

However, the Met department hasn't given too optimistic a picture, and heavy rains may cause the game to be delayed or curtailed.

Incidentally, Scotland have yet to beat a major Test-playing nation. They have played the seven one-day internationals against fancied teams like Australia (2), Pakistan (2), West Indies (2) and South Africa (1).

On a more positive note, however, they have beaten Ireland - who did remarkably well in the World Cup - this season to win their first-ever match against their traditional rivals in four attempts.

India may rest a number of their Test stars, and are sure to field as many of their one-day specialists as possible. Batsmen Robin Uthappa, Rohit Sharma and Gautam Gambhir may thus come into the frame.

Though With 2,000 tickets pre-sold, spectators will be disappointed if the likes of Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar elect to skip the match.

Just before the series against England, India redeemed themselves in the shorter version of the game after the horrors of the World Cup when they defeated South Africa to win the trophy in Ireland. And the Indians will be looking to keep that spirit going.

The match will also allow India to test Munaf Patel's fitness who was overlooked for the Test series.

The hosts have done well to summon all their top stars who were busy doing duty in the English County.

Scotland's captain, Ryan Watson will be delighted to see his trusted colleagues in Navdeep Poonia, Gavin Hamilton, John Blain and Dewald Nel join forces so that they can give a good account of themselves in the one-off tie.

The sqauds:

India: Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh, Gautam Gambhir, Robin Uthappa, Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Kaarthick, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Ramesh Powar, Piyush Chawla, Ajit Agarkar, Zaheer Khan, Rudra Pratap Singh, Munaf Patel.

Scotland: Ryan Watson, John Blain, Gordon Drummond, Gavin Hamilton, Majid Haq, Paul Hoffmann, Neil McCallum, Navdeep Poonia, Dewald Nel, Colin Smith, Fraser Watts, Craig Wright. (With PTI inputs)
