Devon Conway takes a half stride forward to push to the mid off region but plays over the line as the ball nips back in with the angle. UltraEdge shows no bat involved and Ball Tracking comes up with three reds. OUT. Not quite sure why Conway reviewed it because as soon as the DRS was loading up, he had already started to walk back to the dressing room. Latham initially had signaled from the non-striker's end that the point of contact might be outside the line of the off-pole and hence, Conway decided to review it. New Zealand burn a review and more importantly, an early wicket. He gives this one some air, full and on middle, and once again turns away just a bit. However, that is enough to beat the defense of Ravindra who strides out to keep it out, but loses his off pole. 65.1 OUT! TAKEN! What a magnificent catch by Rohit Sharma at the first slip. An absolute stunner from the Indian skipper. Washington Sundar bowls from over the stumps and flattens the trajectory, bowls it on a good length, around middle and off channel. Daryl Mitchell is quick to rock back and squats at it to guide it through the short third region but is beaten by the pace and just tries to guide it with soft hands. Opens the bat face and ends up slicing it off the outer half. The ball goes flat and low towards the first slip. Rohit Sharma shows good reflexes and is quick to react and takes a sharp catch to his right.  228/9

44.5 OUT! TIMBER! Ravindra Jadeja with the double whammy! This is an absolute jaffa from him. He floats this up again, full and on middle and leg. This one grips and turns away sharply, Tom Blundell strides out to keep it out but the ball spins past the outside edge and rattles the stumps. Not much Blundell could do about that one and walks back for a duck. New Zealand lose two in the over and goes from 159/3 to 159/5 in a blink of an eye.  159/5

53 OUT! BOWLED'EM! Ravindra Jadeja gets his third wicket and has effectively ran through the Kiwi middle order. Jadeja, normally quick through the air, slows his pace a bit this time around. Lands a fuller-length delivery which comes in with the arm, on the middle stump line. Glenn Phillips is drawn forward and looks to defend it underneath his eyes as he looks to play for the turn. However, the ball straightens and hastens up and cuts the batter and knocks his middle stump. Glenn Phillips departs on 17 off 28 balls, and New Zealand are six down now.  187/6

60.4 OUT! LBW! Ravindra Jadeja does the trick again for India! He slows it up a touch, full and on middle and leg, gets it to turns away sharply. Ish Sodhi opts to stay back in the crease to block but gets squared up as the ball goes past the outside edge and hits his pads right in front of the stumps. There is a huge appeal and up goes the finger this time. Sodhi walks back without bothering to review it. New Zealand seven down now!  210/7

61 OUT! CASTLED! NUMBER 5 FOR JADEJA! Another double-wicket over from him and New Zealand are almost done here. This one is pushed through quicker, full and on middle, turns away, Matt Henry stays back to keep it out but play all over it and the ball goes through to uproot the off pole. This is Jadeja's 14th five-wicket haul and he is all pumped up, rightly so.  210/8

65.4 OUT! LBW! A huge confident appeal by everyone surrounding the batter and the umpire raises his finger instantly. Ajaz Patel though has reviewed it and challenged the on-field decision. He is in danger though as no shot is offered. Washington Sundar finishes with a spectacular 4-fer. Sundar comes from around the stumps and bowls it around off and drifts it into the batter off the pitch. Ajaz Patel takes a good stride across and looks to pad it away offering no shot at it. Ball Tracking comes up and clearly shows three reds. New Zealand have been bowled out on 235 with 20 overs or so remaining in the day.  235/10

Ajaz Patel bowls it flat and full in front of the stumps, Yashasvi Jaiswal pre-meditates and tries to play the reverse sweep. But the line is not ideal to play that shot. He though goes through the shot and misses all ends up and plays all over the line. The ball lands, grips and clatters the middle and leg stumps. India lose their second wicket and Ajaz Patel redeems himself with this one.  78/2

Rohit Sharma looks to work it across the line but gets surprised by the extra bounce. He closes his bat face early and the ball goes off the top edge toward third slip where Tom Latham gobbles it up. Another start for the Indian skipper but he fails to build on that. William O'Rourke will be a relieved man as his dropped chance does not cost the Kiwis much.  25/1

53.2 OUT! EDGED AND TAKEN, AGAIN! Ajaz Patel gets his fourth wicket now! Ajaz Patel sticks to his plans and bowls it from around the wickets. Tosses this one up, drifts it in on the off stump, it lands, grips and viciously turns away from the batter. It tad bit holds on the surface as well as Gill is drawn on the front foot. He tries to push it with hard hands and plays inside the line. Gets a healthy outside edge that goes flat towards the first slip where Daryl Mitchell takes another sharp low catch to his right. Safe mitts from Mitchell as he takes his second catch. A huge moment in this match as Shubman Gill departs just 10 shy from his ton. He departs on a well-constructed 90 as India are eight down now.  227/8

17.3 OUT! LBW! A huge appeal for LBW and the umpire raises his finger! Ajaz Patel removes the nightwatchman in the very first delivery and New Zealand has sneaked back into the game now. Patel comes from around the stumps and lands it on a fullish length, it lands, grips and turns a fraction away from the batter. Mohammed Siraj lunges ahead to defend it out but plays inside the line of the ball and wears it on the back pad. Nothing on UltraEdge and Ball Tracking comes up with three reds. India burn a crucial review and this will be part of the debate as well. Ajaz Patel is on a HAT TRICK now. India has slipped to 78/3 after a decent start.  78/3

18.3 OUT! DEAR, OH DEAR! RUN OUT! Almost a reminiscence of the Cheteshwar Pujara dismissal against Australia at The Adelaide Oval in the first Test in 2018, when Pat Cummins scored a direct hit from mid on to catch Pujara short at the bowling end. The batter and opposition are different this time but the result and the subsequent questions regarding the run precisely the same. In both cases, the call was questionable from the batter and the fielder was a fast bowler. Was the call made probably because Kohli felt that Henry might have been resting on his heels? And basically, was this run necessary at this stage of the day? Not sure. Kohli perishes too after a boundary. This is going from bad to worse now for India. A run out just at the brink of Stumps and Virat Kohli is absolutely animated with himself. Fuller in length, and at the stumps. Kohli got on the front foot and pushed it to mid on, calling through for a quick single. Matt Henry, at mid on was quick to pick and throw in a motion and scored a terrific direct hit at the non-striker's end. Kohli was compelled to put in a full-length dive to get home. The Kiwis started to celebrate and the decision was referred upstairs. The TV umpire confirms that Kohli's bat was just a foot outside the crease when the stumps were hit. It was Kohli's call so no one else could be really blamed. Heartbreaking last 15 minutes or so for India as they have now slipped from a comfortable 78/1 to a precarious 84/4. On the other hand, terrific from New Zealand to keep on fighting till the very end.  84/4

Sodhi provides a huge crucial breakthrough for New Zealand. Rishabh Pant has a chat with Gill and just with a couple of seconds remaining on the timer, he signals the 'T' and challenges the on-field decision. 48 OUT! CAUGHT BEHIND! Ajaz Patel gets his third now! This is a ripper of a delivery to get rid of the local boy. Tossed up, full and on off, grips and turns away with extra bounce again. Sarfaraz Khan strides out to defend but the ball spins away, takes the gloves and Tom Blundell behind the stumps takes a fine catch to his right. India seven down now and still trails by 31 runs! India further slips down from 180/4 to 204/7. They have now lost three wickets just in the span of about 11 overs and 24 runs.  204/7

58 OUT! 6TH FIVE-WICKET HAUL FOR AJAZ PATEL, ALL IN THE SUBCONTINENT! And he continues to weave his magic at Wankhede. India are 9 wickets down now with a very thin lead at their helm. Patel stays around the stumps and loops it up on a fullish length, it lands, grips, bounces and turns sharply away from the batter. Ravichandran Ashwin is drawn forward and looks to push it through the off side but that excessive turn and bounce takes the outside edge of his willow and Daryl Mitchell with his safe pair of hands takes a regulation catch at the first slip. 59.4 OUT! RUN OUT! An anti-climatic end to the Indian innings! Ajaz Patel lands this short again and around off, Washington Sundar steers it away through point and runs the single very quickly thinking there is a chance of a second run but he gives up that idea. However, Akash Deep is a bit late turn back, and Rachin Ravindra quickly charges onto the ball and throws it right at the top of the stumps where Tom Blundell collects and breaks the stumps in a flash. Akash Deep did not want to put a dive in and tries to drag his bat inside but the replay shows that he is short of his crease. Sundar is disappointed as he was looking good to extend this lead even further but now India have been bowled out for 263 runs.  263/10

0.5 OUT! BOWLED'EM! Akash Deep draws first blood and the Wankhede crowd has gone wild here. No need of a review this time and it is a jaffa from the fast bowler. Pitches it up, on middle, angles in sharply, Tom Latham tries to defend again but plays down the wrong line as the ball goes straight through his defense to shatter the stumps all over. Ashwin dishes out another variety of a carrom ball, lands it fuller in length and in the middle and off channel. Will Young again fails to pick the ball out of Ashwin's fingers and goes through the shot. He plays for the ball to turn into him and closes the bat early to play with the spin. However, the ball spins away and he ends up chipping it back to Ashwin who takes it quite comfortably. Will Young departs on 51 off 100 balls and New Zealand lead by 122 runs with just 2 wickets in hand now.  150/8

14 OUT! STUMPED! OUTFOXED! Ravichandran Ashwin strikes through now and it is a huge wicket of the in-form Rachin Ravindra who has to depart. Ravichandran Ashwin sees the batter charging at him, and pulls his length back and also flattens the trajectory. Lands it around off and the ball grips and holds on the surface. It leaves the batter after pitching as Rachin Ravindra tries to play a wild heave across the line. Misses to connect by a huge margin and Rishabh Pant collects the ball cleanly behind the wickets. Pant does the rest as Rachin Ravindra is found miles outside the popping crease. Rachin Ravindra looked in a bit of a rush there. Clever bowling this from Ashwin! New Zealand in trouble now as they slip down to 44/3 with just a lead of 16 runs in the bank.  44/3

Ravindra Jadeja pulls his length back a bit as he sees Daryl Mitchell charging down to the track. It lands and grips off the surface around off, Daryl Mitchell goes through his shot and tries to hit it too hard, and ends up losing his shape a bit. Hence, he fails to find the middle of the bat and it goes high up in the air. It swirls overhead for an eternity towards the long on region. Ravichandran Ashwin from mid on runs backward and side-on keeping his eyes locked on the ball. Takes the catch and manages to maintain the ball in his hands while tumbling over. Ravindra Jadeja stays around the stumps and lands a flatter one, on a good length, just around off. Tom Blundell goes deep inside the crease to access the back foot punch but is a bit late to bring his bat down as the ball skids off the surface. It chops on from the bottom edge of the bat and clatters the stumps. Another underwhelming outing for Blundell as he departs for 4 off 6. He brings out the carrom ball here, full and lands it on the leg stump line, this one turns away sharply.
