Lahore:
The eight-team competition could be moved to Perth, Johannesburg, Pretoria, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, ICC general manager David Richardson said.
"Some doubts have been raised as far as Sri Lanka is concerned mainly from the weather perspective," Richardson said.
Rain is expected in Sri Lanka during the September 24-October 5 tournament, and Richardson said questions were raised over weather conditions in Sri Lanka during the ICC Executive Board meeting in Perth in January.
"If it's not Sri Lanka, what the board has decided is that we want to hold the tournament over 12 days, which means that we have to have two venues in virtually the same city," Richardson said. "Certainly there can't be any question of international travel being involved. That itself narrows the options down considerably."
