ICC Awards: No Indian in contention

New Delhi:

India's only hope of winning a trophy at this years ICC Awards in South Africa next week will rest on the shoulders of Jhulan Goswami after she remained the only Indian Cricketer in the fray as the ICC released the final shortlists for the awards.

Yuvraj Singh had been nominated in the ODI Player of the Year category while both Zaheer Khan and Anil Kumble had been nominated in the Test Cricketer of the Year.

But all three have now been eliminated which means that for the third straight year no Indian male cricketer will win an individual award.

In the Emerging Player of the Year category England's Ravi Bopara, Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan, Australia's Shuan Tair and New Zealand's Ross Taylor have been nominated.

In the ODI player of the Year Category, it's Australia all the way with Matthew Hayden, Glenn McGrath and Ricky Ponting joined by the lone South African in Jacques Kallis.

In the Test Player of the Year Category, Mutthiah Muralitharan, Kevin Pietersen, Ricky Ponting and Mohammad Yousuf will be in contention.

While in the Cricketer of the Year Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kevin Pietersen, Ricky Ponting and Mohammad Yousuf are in contention.

Ponting's fourth nomination comes in the Captain of the Year where he will compete with Sri Lanka's Mahela Jaywardene.
