I really want to play against Aussies: Sachin

Mumbai:

Down with a tennis elbow injury for about a month now, batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar today said he would have a fair idea about his availability for the home cricket series against Australia by the end of this month. Tendulkar, who has missed the Holland tri-series and the ICC Champions Trophy being held in the England, wants to be completely fit before facing the Australians in the four-match Test series. "I really want to play against the Australians in the home series commencing on October 6 at Bangalore. It was truly frustrating to be sidelined due to injury when your teammates are playing in the middle," said Tendulkar after returning from England on Tuesday. "It is important to be completely fit when you are facing the Australians and I hope I will recover well in time for the series," the master blaster hoped. "I would have a fair idea of how well my injury has healed towards the end of this month. By that time team physiotherapist Andrew Leipus would also be back in India," he said. About the treatment he underwent for his ailing elbow in England, Tendulkar said, "The shock treatment I underwent was extremely painful, but the level of pain has subsided and I am hoping I would be fit soon." "Though injuries are part and parcel in a sportsman's career, I never thought I would have problems before an important series like the Champions Trophy," he said. Sachin said that he had been advised by the cricket board doctor to be very careful while using the left hand. (PTI)
