West Australian batsman Mike Hussey was called into the Australian cricket team Monday as injury cover for opener Justin Langer.

Brisbane: West Australian batsman Mike Hussey was called into the Australian cricket team Monday as injury cover for opener Justin Langer ahead of Thursday's first cricket test against the West Indies at the Gabba. Langer did not train with the Australian team in Brisbane on Monday and was given another day to prove he can take part in the match despite suffering from a broken rib. A decision on his availability will be made Tuesday. "The reports from team medical staff suggest that Justin will aim to practice tomorrow, but in the event that he's not fit to play, we want to have a player on standby with the squad in Brisbane," said selection chairman Trevor Hohns.
