Home Ministry receives revised IPL schedule

New Delhi: The Union Home Ministry has received the revised schedule for the second edition of the Indian Premier League.

The schedule has since been forwarded to the police establishments of the various states that will be hosting matches.

However, there still seems to be considerable confusion with the IPL saying the government clearance is on track and the ministry saying they're yet to give a final clearance.

Some of the states also continue to have reservations about matches scheduled close to polling dates. A formal announcement of some sort is expected on Tuesday.

The IPL coincides with the general elections in the country and the organisers of the cash-rich league have been forced to revamp the schedule to avoid matches on polling days in the host cities.

At least seven out of eight states have verbally expressed the need for central paramilitary forces. Though, the IPL organisers have conveyed to the Home Ministry that they do not require any central forces for the security.
