  • India's previous bilateral series win against New Zealand were - 4-0 in 1988-89; 3-2 in 1995-96 and 3-2 in 1999-2000.

  • India have won five successive bilateral ODI series in - 3-2 against Pakistan in India in 2007-08; 3-2 against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka in 2008; 5-0 against England in India in 2008-09; 4-1 against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka in 2008-09 and 3-1 against New Zealand in New Zealand in 2008-09.
  • New Zealand's eight-wicket win is their biggest against India at Auckland, which is their fourth in seven matches.

  • Martin Guptill played an outstanding innings - 57 not out off 50 balls, which is his third ODI fifty - his second against India.

  • Sehwag's tally of 299 (ave.74.75) is his best ever in a bilateral series against New Zealand. He had recorded the same run-aggregate at an average of 42.71, including two hundreds in seven games in New Zealand in 2002-03.

  • Sehwag is the leading run-getter in the just concluded series.
