New Delhi:

Punjab fast bowler Manpreet Gony replaces injured pacer S Sreesanth for the three-nation cricket series in Bangladesh, starting on Sunday, the BCCI Secretary Niranjan Shah announced in a press release.

Gony played for Chennai Super Kings in the recently concluded Indian Premier League and impressed one and all with his ability and talent.

Sreesanth, who was playing for Kings XI Punjab, strained his left side in the last league game against Rajasthan Royals at Mohali on May 28. Dr. Kinja at Bangalore assessed him on Friday and ruled him out of action. He would require about two weeks for recovering from the current situation and getting back to his normal bowling routine.

"MRI scans confirmed that he still has some effusion in the region," the Board of Control for Cricket in India said in a statement.

Sreesanth will be available for Asia Cup 2008 to be played at Pakistan. His rehabilitation will be organized at NCA in Bangalore.

Sachin Tendulkar and Zaheer Khan have already been ruled out of the tri-series owing to groin and ankle injuries.

Pakistan is the third team in the tri-series besides India and hosts Bangladesh.
