Johannesburg:

The Australian team has arrived in South Africa ahead of the Twenty-20 World Cup without captain Ricky Ponting.

However, stand in captain Adam Gilchrist is confident Ponting will arrive before Australia's first match against Zimbabwe next Wednesday.

"We're just waiting to see with Ricky. He hopefully will join us soon. Not 100 per cent sure when but it's just a case of day by day we'll just be in touch with him and he'll let us know what's going on there. So I wouldn't think that he's going to miss the whole tournament. No I'm pretty sure he'll be here at some stage," said Adam Gilchrist.

The wicketkeeper batsman added that they were aware of their game well in advance and were ready for it.

"If we're not up to scratch then that's our fault it's not because we've had a big break, we just haven't prepared right but I trust that we have," he said.
