Ganguly to join cricket camp

Bangalore:

Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly will take a break from his English county stint with Glamorgan and join the team's conditioning camp later this month. Ganguly was expected to join his teammates on July 13 following coach Greg Chappell's insistence that the captain be present during his first camp with the Indian team. Ganguly's arrival will coincide with the start of the cricket camp, the third and final leg of the near month-long training programme at the National Cricket Academy. "He has been asked to report for the final camp and is expected to be in Bangalore on the 13th of July," BCCI Secretary S K Nair said. "The coach wants him to be there for a few days." The camp began on June 27 with an eight-day programme for the fast bowlers and would be followed by a fitness programme from July 5 to 12 when the rest of the 36 probables will join the 16 pacers. Whether the captain stays on till the end of the cricket specific camp on July 22 or returns to his county would depend on the International Cricket Council's decision on his six-match ODI ban, said Nair.
