Dambulla: Sourav Ganguly has arrived in Dambulla ahead of India's next game in the Indian oil tri series against Sri Lanka on Wednesday. Among the first things that Ganguly did after reaching Dambulla was meet Rahul Dravid and coach Greg Chappell. Ganguly seemed happy to be back with the Indian team, something he has missed out on in the last six one dayers that India has played. Batting order Whether Ganguly is deprived of the captaincy for the next three games or for a longer period is still up in the air. But the first big decision for the team management is to decide where to use Ganguly in the batting order. Reports suggest that it might be number 3 instead of the opening slot. The statistics certainly prove that Ganguly has been most successful as an opener. Almost 200 of his 261 innings have been at that position and 19 of his 22 hundreds have come as an opener. However, the averages show that he has had success at number 3 as well. He is averaging 53 at that slot with three 100s and nine 50s but any lower than that and the runs completely dry up. Ganguly also made it quite clear that D-day for India would be August 9, the day of the final with Sri Lanka as the opponents.
