Former Maharashtra all rounder Vasant Bahutule passed away on Sunday.

He was 76, according to family sources.

Bahutule, whose son Sairaj has played for India in Tests and ODIs and also captained Mumbai and Maharashtra, played two Ranji matches.

In the 1952-53 season, he played against Gujarat (at Ahmedabad) in the league stage and opposite Holkar (Indore) in the semi finals.

Bahutule Sr. captained Rajasthan Cricket Club and also played for PJ Hindu Gymkhana in local cricket while representing Reserve Bank in the Times Shield.

He batted right-handed and bowled leg-spin, a trait son Sairaj picked up and used in his long domestic career.
