Port-of-Spain: England will be guarding against a West Indies backlash in their second Cable & Wireless cricket test this week at Trinidad's Queen's Park Oval, key all-rounder Andrew Flintoff has said. The West Indies collapsed in the first Test last week in Jamaica, with a second innings of 47 runs leading to a 10-wicket loss to England. The visitors now lead the four-match series 1-0. "The West Indies have some very talented cricketers on their side, and they want to put the record straight," Flintoff said. "I'm sure they'll come out fighting and try to come at us hard," the 26-year-old said. Flintoff said England was playing well, however, and that if the team could repeat its performance during the first test, "we have a good chance of winning again". "The bowlers are bowling in pairs, bowling for each other. The batters are getting stuck in, and we're taking our catches," said Flintoff, who contributed 46 with the bat in the opening Test victory. Meanwhile, West Indies captain Brian Lara pleaded with Trinidad fans to back the home team in the second Test beginning tomorrow, saying the West Indies needed the support now more than ever. "We need the support in times of disappointment, in times of hardship. It's important that (fans) come Friday," Lara said after arriving in his native Trinidad on Tuesday night. "We find ourselves with our backs against the wall, and will be fighting back but will need their support to do so," he said. (AP)
