Wellington:

Stephen Fleming, who has been at the helm of New Zealand cricket for the last 10 years, has been stripped of the Test captaincy.

He will be replaced by Daniel Vettori. Fleming had quit as New Zealand's one-day captain after the World Cup earlier this year but reiterated his desire to continue as the Test Captain.

However New Zealand cricket and coach John Bracewell didn't quite think he should carry on.

Fleming's 80 tests as captain are second only to Allan Border who had 93.

It's also being speculated that Fleming's exit has been hastened because of rumours that he is signing up with the Indian Cricket League.
