New Delhi: Mayhem broke out on the streets as India created history by beating Pakistan in the final one-dayer by 40 runs and winning the series 3-2. India's emphatic victory, their first ever on Pakistan soil, prompted fans to pour out on the streets, which had been deserted for most part of the day. Country celebrates Vadodara, the hometown of India's sensational new find Irfan Pathan, wore a festive look as fans carrying pictures of the local hero, hailed the victory. Fans were seen bursting crackers and distributing sweets in Mumbai, which celebrated the win late into the night. Congratulatory messages started pouring in once the match ended with President A P J Abdul Kalam and Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee leading the nation in hailing the historic win. Deputy Prime Minister L K Advani also congratulated Sourav Ganguly and his men for registering a "memorable" victory. (PTI)
