England ODIs: Lawson replaces Edwards

Kingston: A hamstring injury forced fast bowler Fidel Edwards out of the West Indies' one-day international cricket series in England. Edwards strained a hamstring in the second and final Test against Bangladesh which ended on Monday. He has 12 wickets in four one-day matches. Jermaine Lawson, coming back from a long-term back injury, will replace Edwards in the 15-member squad, the West Indies Cricket Board said yesterday. Lawson played in the opening Test against Bangladesh before being dropped for the second. He has nine wickets in six ODIs. The West Indies leave on Sunday for England, where they meet the host and New Zealand in a tri-nation series from June 24-July 10. The West Indies will name a separate squad for the four-Test series against England following the one-day matches. West Indies one-day squad: Brian Lara (captain), Ramnaresh Sarwan, Chris Gayle, Devon Smith, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Ricardo Powell, Dwayne Smith, Dwayne Bravo, Darren Sammy, Ridley Jacobs, Carlton Baugh, Ian Bradshaw, Ravi Rampaul, Tino Best, Jermaine Lawson.
