Rain forced suspension of play in the Group D league match between England and Sri Lanka in the ICC Champions Trophy

Rain forced suspension of play today in the Group D league match between England and Sri Lanka in the ICC Champions Trophy tournament. The one-day cricket match was being played at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. Put into bat, England were 118 for three in 32 overs with Marcus Trescothick on 64 and Andrew Flintoff on 21 when the covers came on. Opener Vikram Solanki (18), Michael Vaughan (5) and Andrew Strauss (7) were the batsmen to be dismissed. Teams: England: Michael Vaughan (captain), Marcus Trescothick, Vikram Solanki, Andrew Strauss, Paul Collingwood, Andrew Flintoff, Geraint Jones, Ashley Giles, Alex Wharf, Darren Gough and Steve Harmison Sri Lanka: Marvan Atapattu (captain), Sanath Jayasuriya, Avishka Gunawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Tillekeratne Dilshan, Saman Jayantha, Upul Chandana, Chaminda Vaas, Fervez Maharoof and Nuwan Zoysa.
