M S Dhoni might have his own share of critics, but there are many who feel his brand of cricket and his character are very well suited for captaincy.

Dhoni will be a good captain: Farokh

Lancashire:

Farokh Engineer's billiards room at his home in Lancashire also doubles up as his private museum.

The dashing wicket-keeper played a crucial part in the success of India's legendary spin quartet in the 70's - Bedi, Prasanna, Chandrasekhar and Venkataraghavan.

That along with his exploits with the bat made him the first posterboy of Indian cricket, with an endorsement to boot, making him a Brylcream man.

"Infact it was quite embarrassing. There were big hoardings of my ads at chowpatti in Mumbai," says Farokh.

Thirty years on, Farokh has a successor in MS Dhoni but wicket keeping skills aren't the only similarity they have.

"I was just as daft in batting, used to spray shots all over. I like Dhoni's approach to the game. He is a shy boy. Sachin brought him to me," adds the Senior Vice President of the Lancashire County Cricket Club.

But more than his skills what has impressed Farokh is the Jharkhand lad's character.

"Behind the stumps you can read a batsman well. With the temperament Dhoni has, he will make a good captain. His confidence will stay with him as long as he doesn't cut his hair," quips Farokh.

It is said that history repeats itself just as in the case of Indian cricket. Almost 30 years after the original Brylcream man of Indian cricket bid adieu, Dhoni has appeared on the stage, whose character and charisma reminds many of Farokh in his sunny days.
