The one thing that Mahendra Singh Dhoni would love to do come September 24 is lift the ICC World Twenty20 Trophy.

It is his first assignment as being the captain of the Indian team, and the one thing he certainly can't complain about, is the lack of support or faith reposed in him by his teammates before the tournament.

"He has a good cricketing mind. We have to support him. He is a thinker of the game and is enthusiastic behind the stumps. We hope to do well under his captaincy," said Virender Sehwag, member, Indian Twenty20 Team.

"Being a wicket-keeper, he has a natural advantage. He can read which way the game is going," added Irfan Pathan, member, Indian Twenty20 Team.

No wonder then that he was marked out as a potential skipper by many, over the past season, before the crown finally came to rest for the T20 championship.

His phenomenal talent, easy-going style, rapport with seniors and juniors alike, and good attitude to boot, helping his cause no end.

But what will make his job difficult is the fact that he has to devise a comprehensive gameplan and strategies despite having limited resources and experience of playing cricket's shortest version.

The man leading India in this tournament is an avid biker who insists he is always in control even when he negotiates tricky curves at high speeds.

And as Dhoni prepares to steer his team ahead in a fast-paced and thrilling version of the game, he knows as well as anyone, that the slightest misjudgement can even prove fatal.
