Jaipur:
Tickets for the third one-dayer between India and Sri Lanka in Jaipur have already been sold out. The Rajasthan Cricket Association, which has been in the news for all the court cases against the BCCI, has raised unprecedented revenue from corporate boxes. But this has led to complaints that there aren't enough tickets for the others. Unaffordable prices There are a total of 26,000 tickets, but only 50 per cent of these cost upto Rs 500, which is affordable for ordinary people. And cricket buffs are livid at tickets being expensive and elusive. "Injustice has been done to us. There should be more tickets for the public. There has been 50 per cent reservation for the corporates and only 15 per cent for the public. This is really unfair," said a fan. "I have only watched Tendulkar and Sehwag on TV. I wanted to watch them in real life, but sadly there are no more tickets left for this game," said another fan. Over 75 per cent of tickets in Nagpur and Mohali have been sold for less than Rs 500. But half the tickets in Jaipur cost Rs 1500 or more. RCA admits goof-up The RCA claims it has sold more tickets to corporates to raise funds for better cricket infrastructure in Rajasthan. But with people's anger mounting, even RCA officials admit they have goofed up. "We admit that we have made a mistake. I promise that the next time we will reserve 50 per cent of the tickets just for students," said Subhash Joshi, General Secretary, RCA. While preparations for the match are in their final stage, student unions in Jaipur have threatened to launch an agitation if they are not given 50 per cent concession in all ticket prices. With Jaipur hosting a cricket ODI after six years, public enthusiasm in the city is at a peak. While tickets remain elusive even for cricket buffs willing to pay, the RCA will gift free tickets worth Rs 30,000 each to all the 200 MLAs of Rajasthan. Clearly players of the political arena are making hay even on the sports field.Topics mentioned in this article
