Oct 2006
Sent home from ICC Champions Trophy alongwith Shoaib Akhtar for testing positive for nandrolone.

Nov 2006
Pakistan Cricket Board banned both bowlers, Akhtar for two years and Asif for one.

Dec 2006
Ban overturned by a tribunal which showed leniency over Asif & Shoaib's 'lack of awareness'.

March 2007
Asif & Shoaib pulled out of World Cup squad, PCB apparently feared they would fail dope tests.

May 2007
Surprisingly named vice-captain for 3 ODIs in Abu Dhabi.

June 2007
Detained in Dubai for 19 days for possessing a recreational drug, let off because of 'insignificance' of the offence.

July 2008
Found to have failed a dope test during the IPL
