Humpy splits point in 9th round

WGM Koneru Humpy drew with IM Tibor Fogarasi of Hungary in the 9th round First Saturday GM Chess tournament in Budapest.

Woman Grand Master Koneru Humpy drew with International Master Tibor Fogarasi of Hungary in the ninth round and shares the lead of 6.5 point with Peter Horvath of Hungary in the First Saturday GM Chess tournament in Budapest. Playing blacks, the 14-year girl from Andhra Pradesh drew the match in 28 moves and she has to win the remaining two matches to obtain the second men's GM norm, her updated website said today. Horvath, who shares the lead with Humpy, defeated Goran Kosanovic (Yugoslavia) to reach 6.5 points. Humpy (6.5) will play IM Jakab Attile (5.5) of Hungary in the 10th round and clash with Yugoslav GM Goran Todorovic (4.5) in the last round. Humpy has lost to WGM Hoang Th Trang (Vietnam) and drew three matches while winning five games in nine rounds. (PTI)
