Harikrishna prepares for World Championships

Chennai:

India's youngest Grand Master, 15-year-old P Harikrishna and under-18 world champion Arthie Ramaswamy are preparing to leave for the World Championships in Moscow which start on November 23. India is sending its biggest ever contingent to the World Chess Championships this year.Harikrishna has gone through a month of training with Yevegnov Vladmirov, International Master from Kazakhstan. "We prepared some general openings so it will be helpful in general not only in Moscow," he said.Arthie Ramaswamy said, "I have prepared for two weeks and I hope I will do well in Moscow."While even the young chess players accept that it is going to be a tough fight in Moscow, the coach says he is impressed with the standards of chess in India and says for Harikrishna, Moscow would be a great learning experience. "Now he (Harikrishna) is a good player and I think anyone who plays will have to see him that way. And he is only 15. Hopefully he will become a great player," Vladmirov remarked.
