A grand reception befitting a king - that is how Chennai decided to welcome their king of chess Vishwanathan Anand.

The world chess champion was taken on a horse driven chariot from Adayar to his house at Besant Nagar and was escorted by soldiers dressed in armour on four horses.

The reception arrangement was done by the Tamil Nadu State Chess Association, who took nearly three days to prepare for the mega celebration.

Anand was also greeted by his enthusiastic fans, especially students, as over 1,000 students gathered to meet and cheer for their hero.
