Sofia:

Viswanathan Anand has lost in the seventh round of the Mtel Masters to world champion Veslin Topalov. This is Anand's second loss of the tournament. He had earlier lost to tournament leader Gata Kamsky in the third round. The Indian is now placed second. This result increases Kamsky's lead over Anand to one point. Earlier in the week, Anand had briefly shared the lead with Kamsky in the category-20 event. Anand had earlier beaten Topalov with black pieces in the second round of the event. However Anand's form was found wanting when he played with the white pieces. This was Anand's second loss with white pieces, something very unusual for him. (With PTI inputs)
