Glasgow:

Scott Harrison has passed his medical tests since being released from a Spanish jail and is fit to defend his WBO featherweight title on December 9. The fight in London against Nicky Cook will be called off unless the WBO accepts that Harrison can regain full fitness and has not breached conditions it set up after he pulled out of a defense against Gairy St Claire in May. Harrison, who has a history of depression and alcohol problems, was arrested in Malaga, Spain, on October 6 after an alleged assault on a policeman and was let out on bail on Monday. "We are still waiting on some bits and pieces including things like blood tests, but that apart, Scott has come through his medical with flying colors,'' said the fighter's lawyer, Massimo Franchi. So it has now been clarified by medics that he is fit to box. (AP)
