IBF lightweight champion Paul Spadafora gave up his title on Thursday because he was having trouble making the 60.75-kilogram weight limit. Spadafora (36-0-1) won the title in 1999 and has successfully defended it nine times. He fought WBA champion Leonard Dorin to a draw last month in a title unification bout, and a September rematch was expected. Spadafora will move up to the junior welterweight division, Michael Acri Boxing Promotions said in a statement. (AP)Topics mentioned in this article
