Hyderabad:

Former All-England champ Pullela Gopichand is busy grooming Saina Nehwal, who seems to be the new star in the making from Hyderabad. The 15-year-old is on track to emulate what the more illustrious Hyderabad girl, Sania Mirza, is doing in the world of tennis. "Whenever I play I get an energy. I have to do it fast and win the next tournament," said Saina, the Junior National Badminton champion. "Commonwealth Games, Uber cup--I am looking forward to them and working hard. This time I have to win them. I don't want to leave anything," she added. Inspiring start Saina was inspired to pick up a badminton racquet when she saw former All-England champion Pullela Gopichand play. Today she is one of the brightest stars of Gopichand's academy. "She wants to win, and she is not afraid of any of the players. That's special. The quality to fight despite the odds is important," Gopichand said. Saina first won the Junior Singles and Doubles title in 2003, and has never looked back. She has won everything she has played, and defeated India's number one player Aparna Popat to win the Asian Satellite Championship in Delhi last month.
