Hyderabad: Former All-England champion Pullela Gopichand is now back home in Hyderabad, after what many think was a disappointing comeback aÂ" he lost in early rounds in all the three championship he played in.Gopichand, who is now the oldest player on the world badminton circuit, admits he should have fared better than making an early-round exit in the Singapore, Indonesian and Malaysian Open."I am personally positive and see it encouraging for me. Although I have lost, I have lost to players ranked in the top 15. And I lost to them third set 15-13 and that too after leading 13-10 and 13-9," he said.Gopichand admits injury has slowed him on the court. It shows up, he says, particularly when he is playing against younger opponents."I still need to work on my jumping and smashing aspect. The lunges at the net and from the back court jumps. These are things for which I need a little more time because the knee and the legs have gone through a surgery and it is not advisable to push through training," he added.Gopi leaves next week to play in the Danish and the German Open and promises there is still enough guile in him to prove to his critics that the All-England triumph wasn't a flash in the pan.
