Defending champion Pulella Gopichand has crashed out of the All-England Badminton Championships in the second round.

Defending champion Pulella Gopichand has crashed out of the All-England Badminton Championships in the second round. Gopi, for whom this was the first tournament in about three months after a stress fracture lost to Malaysia's Hafiz Hashim in four games. The 19-year-old is the brother of former world number one Roslin Hashim. The third seeded Indian had said that he was short of match practice coming into the tournament. India has also knocked out of contention in the tournament since Abhinn Shyam Gupta also lost in the second round.
