Lucknow: National Games champion Chetan Anand and defending champion Abhinn Shyam Gupta scored convincing victories to storm into the men's singles final of the Jaypee Syed Modi All-India Badminton Tournament on Monday. Anand carved out a comfortable 15-9, 11-7 victory over Arvind Bhatt of Karnataka, while Gupta outplayed Sachin Ratti 15-11, 15-5 in another one-sided semi-final encounter. The women's singles final will be played between national champion Aparna Popat and defending champion Trupti Murugunde, who had contrasting wins in the semi-finals. Popat had to struggle hard before beating B R Meenakshi 7-11, 11-8, 11-7, but Trupti outclassed G Jwala 13-10, 11-7 in straight games.
