New Delhi:

Ace Indian shuttler Chetan Anand continued to impress in the international circuit moving to the quarter-finals of the Dutch Open badminton tournament in Amsterdam on Thursday even as Anand Pawar fell by the wayside.

The sixth seeded Anand had to sweat it out against unseeded Dyonisius H Rumbaka of Indonesia 21-16, 19-21, 21-19 on way to victory.

However, it turned out to be a disappointing day for 16th seed Pawar, who went down 19-21, 20-22 to Indonesian third seed Andre K Tedjono.

The lone Indian in the women's singles category, Aditi Mutatkar, took just 26 minutes to storm into the quarter-finals, defeating local girl Rachel Van Cutsen 21-18 21-10. She next faces Rosaria Yusfin Pungkasari of Indonesia.

There were more good news for Indian shuttlers as both the men's doubles duo of Rupesh Kumar and Sanava Thomas and mixed doubles combination of V Diju and Jwala Gutta pocketed victories in their respective matches.

While Rupesh and Sanave defeated Scottish-English pair of Watson Briggs and Marcus Ellis 21-5, 21-19 to enter the second round, Diju and Gutta defeated fourth seed Wouter Claes and Nathalie Descamps of Belgium 21-19, 21-23, 21-15 to move into the quarter-finals.

Rupesh and Sanave will now take on second seeded Belgian combination of Wouter Claes and Frederic Mawet in the third round and Diju-Gutta combine will next face Joachim Fischer Nielsen and Christinna Pedersen of Denmark in the last eight.
