Anju finishes fifth in long jump final

Anju Bobby George has finished fifth in the long jump final of the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki.

Anju Bobby George has finished fifth in the long jump final of the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki. American Tianna Madison won the gold with a jump of 6.89 metres. Olympic bronze medalist Tatyana Kotova came second while defending champion Eunice Barber won the bronze. Anju's best jump in the final was measured at 6.66 metres. She had qualified for the final with a season's personal best of 6.54 metres. Earlier, Anju had won a bronze medal at the World Athletics Championships held in Paris two years ago. The third place finish had made Anju the first Indian to win a world championship medal.
