Man of the match, Jasprit Bumrah says he assessed the wicket and tried to learn from the English bowlers. According to him, he planned to bowl back of a length deliveries. He informs that he's aware of Buttler's potential. He says that there was more dew than he expected. Also says that he planned his fields according to the larger part of the ground. Bumrah also reveals that Kohli's confidence in him helped him a lot.
Indian skipper, Virat Kohli says that it was important to have belief and he didn't want the momentum to go away. Praises the spinners as well as Bumrah and Nehra for their bowling. Adds that Mishra was outstanding, and there was no need to bowl Pandya. Is pleased with the bowling performance. Kohli reveals that Bumrah was asking him every ball as to what should he do on the next ball, but the skipper asked him to back himself. Kohli admits Rahul played an outstanding innings as it was not an easy pitch.
England skipper, Eoin Morgan starts off by saying that they were in the driving seat till the last over and backed themselves to win. Rues the bad decision on the first ball of the last over as they lost the set batsman. Credits his bowlers for putting in another good performance after the first game. Mentions that the wicket didn't suit them but they adapted well with both bat and ball. Calls it disappointing to lose the game from where they did but now hopes to win the final one to clinch the series. Ends by saying that it has been a closely fought series and is looking forward to the final game.
England made a sedate start to their chase and then Nehra sent the openers back to the hut off consecutive deliveries to throw them off track. Morgan too struggled in his short stay at the crease. But Ben Stokes, who got a reprieve first ball as he was dismissed off a no ball, played an aggressive knock of 38 runs off 27 balls to bring the chase back on track. But as soon as he and Root got out, Bumrah stood up to help India level the series. The Indian spinners kept England in check as Amit Mishra led from the front with his spell of 4-0-25-1. Suresh Raina's contribution in the middle too was vital as he completed his quota of four overs at a decent economy rate.
With 8 runs needed off the last over, he kept his nerves in check to dismiss Root on the first ball itself. From there on, he made clever variations to make Jos Buttler's life difficult only to castle him on the fourth ball. Death overs bowling have cost India matches many a times, but not on this occasion. He bowled 9 dots in his last two overs to create immense pressure. Virat Kohli must be mighty impressed with the youngster.
Jasprit Bumrah is the man of the moment. When he came back into the attack, England needed 41 off 30 balls. The odds were in the visitors' favour. But one ball after another one, he bowled the slower deliveries to snatch the match away from Eoin Morgan and Co. The 18th over really did the trick for India, where Bumrah bowled four dot balls and almost scalped Joe Root's wicket off the last delivery.
