Mumbai: City Mayor Shraddha Jadhav has written a letter to Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) demanding free passes for corporators for the World Cup matches to be held at the Wankhede Stadium here.
"We have written a letter to MCA asking them to provide free passes to corporators for the World Cup matches at the Wankhede stadium," she said.
The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) provides basic facilities at the stadium including water, sewerage and electricity. So, they must provide us the passes for the matches," she added.
Jadhav further said special passes should be provided to the Deputy Mayor and other Group leaders.
At present, there are 227 corporators in the civic body. The Wankhede hosts three matches of the quadrennial event, which begins on February 19, including the final on April 2.
Last week, BMC Standing Committee Chairperson Rahul Shewale's demand of reserving 2,000 seats for students of BMC-run schools for two World Cup matches -- New Zealand v/s Canada (March 13) and New Zealand v/s Sri Lanka (March 18) --was accepted by the MCA.
