The 'Indian Express' is back on track. Tennis players Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi have decided to keep aside their differences and team up for the doubles event at the Beijing Olympics in August.

The tennis duo have put their differences behind for the national interest. The two had dinner together in Paris on Monday night. The AITA secretary Anil Khanna met Lee-Hesh and persuaded them to play together.

Bhupathi agreed to play with Paes on a condition that they would play two tournaments together - one on hard court and one on grass court. They also agreed on a one-week training.

Bhupathi spoke exclusive to NDTV. Here are extracts from the interview:

Finally teaming up with Leander. How did it happen?

We met yesterday and the main point of contention was the preparation going into the Olympics. We decided to play a couple of events and we've decided to spend a few days in the later innings before the Olympics and that works well for both of us.

Only two events... do you see it as a compromise?

Two events will give us a good feel or hopefully give us some wins under our belt and help us go with confidence. We have to wait and see. Obviously we think we have a chance. Both of us know what we are capable of as long as we are going to put it together.

It can be said that the two of you have put all disputes behind and would focus on the game now. How do you feel about this?

Ideally both of us would like to spend the next two months focussing on the Olympics if the media lets us... and by all means we'd like to prepare for the two events and go to Beijing with a lot of confidence.
