The three-time champion improved to 25-0 at Roland Garros and returned to the quarterfinals by beating fellow Spaniard Fernando Verdasco 6-1, 6-0, 6-2 on Sunday.
Seeded second behind Roger Federer, Nadal at one stretch won 10 consecutive games. Through four rounds he has lost only 22 games while sweeping every set.
Nadal had never lost fewer than six games previously in a Roland Garros match. He has dropped only seven sets in his 25 matches at the French Open and has yet to be pushed to five sets.
His next opponent will be No. 19 Nicolas Almagro, who beat Jeremy Chardy 7-6 (0), 7-6 (7), 7-5.
