Mumbai:Olympic bronze medallist and ace tennis star Leander Paes on Wednesday said he wants to team up with estranged partner Mahesh Bhupathi for next year's Beijing Games in order to keep India's medal hopes alive.
Speaking at the unveiling ceremony of the Lenovo-designed Olympic torch - "Cloud of Promise", Paes, who was accompanied by long jumper Anju Bobby George, said it was his dream to win an Olympics gold for India and his teaming with Bhupathi would be the best bet for India.
"We have played exceedingly well in the past and understand each other's game. It's our best bet and it won't be a problem for both of us to adjust again," said Paes.
Paes said so far he had not communicated with Bhupathi regarding teaming up for the Olympics, which take place in the Chinese capital next August.
"Mahesh is recovering from a surgery. He should be given sufficient time to recuperate," he said.
Paes, a four-time Olympian, hoped the Beijing edition will not be his last Olympics.
He said there are Davis Cup matches lined up before the team leaves for China and was optimistic he and Mahesh would get some matches under their belt.
Paes did not rule out playing singles in Beijing but that would entirely depend on his rankings and if there would be a possibility of getting a wildcard at the event.
On his professional commitements, he said he would team up with Australian Paul Hanley next year starting with the Australian Open.
