New Delhi:Former US Open junior champion and ranked 10th in the world, Marion Bartoli will be in India at the end of this week to participate in the Sunfeast Open in Kolkata.
And her form these last two years means she's got top billing as a marquee player.
Bartoli's breakthrough year on the tour actually came in 2006 when she won her first three WTA titles. It had been seven years since she debuted on the ITF circuit and five since she won the US Open as a junior.
No wonder then that she is one of the Sunfeast Open's biggest names this year. But there is one player who'll outrank her simply in terms of crowd support. Sania Mirza has played against Marion Bartoli only once.
On that occasion in 2005, the Indian number one had beaten the French number one in the third round of the US Open.
Bartoli has come a long way since then. She plays double fisted just like her favourite player Monica Seles and if she's anything like her favourite actor too, then she's got the license to kill in Kolkata.
