Madrid: David Nalbandian beat big-serving Ivan Ljubicic today to reach the finals of the $3 million Madrid Masters tennis tournament. The Argentine broke his opponent once in each set and held on for a 6-4, 6-4 victory over the Croat. Nalbandian, coming back strongly after a series of injuries this season, will meet the winner of the second semifinal between second seed Andre Agassi and No. 3 seed Marat Safin in Sunday's final at Rockodromo Arena. Ljubicic dropped his serve in the third game. That was all Nalbandian needed to win the opening set. In the second set, Nalbandian got the only service break to lead 5-4 and then held serve to close out the match in one hour and 25 minutes. Nalbandian has battled back from injuries to his ankle, abdomen and thigh this season to stand among the top 10 in the Race and Entry Rankings. Sunday's final will be Nalbandian's second of the year. He lost to Carlos Moya of Spain in the Masters Series event in Rome. (AP)
