World number two Rafael Nadal is on track to make a comeback from his wrist injury in time for season's final Grand Slam - the US Open -- starting August 25. Spanish tennis federation (RFET) has revealed that Nadal's progress is on track after he underwent medical tests.

"Following a scan and clinical evaluation, his progress is on track, although he will still have tests from time to time," the RFET said on their website (www.rfet.es).

Nadal sustained the injury to his right wrist during practice last month which forced him to pull out of two US Open warm-up events - the Rogers Cup and next week's Cincinnati Open.

Nadal, who is wearing a cast on his right wrist, posted a picture on Facebook of his training in Majorca with uncle and coach Toni Nadal. "Making the most of these days to continue training, always with desire and optimism," Nadal wrote.

He missed seven months of action in 2012-2013 before making a blistering return with a successful defence of his French Open crown and capturing an emotional second US Open crown in September.

Nadal hasn't played since his shock Wimbledon fourth-round loss to Australian teenager Nick Kyrgios four weeks ago. He was the defending champion in Cincinnati as well as Canada where the Masters event was played in Montreal last year.
