Sania Mirza won't be the only Indian taking part in singles at the US Open later this month. 18-year-old Vivek Shokeen will be taking part in the junior event along with Jeevn Nedunchezan. The top ranked Indian junior has been tipped by many to be a future Davis Cup player but its still early days. "I have played the French Open and lost in the first round. I had advanced to the second round in Wimbledon. I am not looking to win but I will do as best as I can," said Shokeen. Jeevan Nedunchezan is also taking part in the US Open but Vivek Shokeen will be there in a slightly different capacity. His trip has been sponsored by the International Tennis Federation, which handpicks certain juniors across the world and then helps them gain exposure. "He has a good build but lacks stroke selection but if he works hard and remains injury free he can certainly make it to the Davis Cup team," said Gajendra Singh, Vivek Shokeen's Coach. Shokeen is certainly hoping for a long and successful career. He's so focussed on the game that he's chosen to abandon his schooling.
