India's evergreen tennis warrior Leander Paes will turn up with a new partner when he plays the Thailand Open men's doubles on Wednesday. The 40-year-old has teamed up with Italy's Daniele Bracciali - his 95th partner in a career spanning 23 years.
According to a national daily, Paes and Bracciali - a 35-year-old with a career high ATP ranking of 49 achieved seven years ago -- will be among the top teams in the Bangkok event. Paes had partnered Czech Radek Stepanek to win the US Open recently.
While Stepanek has chosen to take time off after the US Open and Davis Cup matches, Paes is eager to keep going with a new partner. Interestingly, Paes' former teammate Mahesh Bhupathi also has a long list of partners. Swede Robert Lindstedt is Bhupathi's latest and 72nd men's doubles partner.
However in the mixed doubles division, Bhupathi is ahead of Paes 26-22. Bhupathi has won eight mixed doubles Grand Slams with seven different partners while Paes has six mixed doubles crown with three different ladies, including the legendary Martina Navratilova.
