Madrid: Top-seeded Rafael Nadal reached the Madrid Masters final for the first time on Saturday by defeating Robby Ginepri 7-5, 7-6 (1). In the final, Nadal will face eighth-seeded Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia, who defeated Argentina's David Nalbandian 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. "It's something special to be in a Masters Series final, indoors and especially if it's Madrid, which was one of my goals this year," Nadal said. The 19-year-old Nadal was pressed hard by Ginepri in both sets before a sellout crowd of 9,000 at Rockodromo Madrid Arena. In the second set, Nadal went ahead 4-3 with a service break after the American fell behind 0-40. B But Ginepri broke back in the next game when Nadal missed a rare forehand passing shot. Both players held serve the rest of the way, forcing the tiebreaker. Nadal got an early mini break and never trailed, clinching it 6-1 when Ginepri's forehand sailed long. Nadal, who came into Madrid after a three-week injury layoff, has not lost a set in four matches. He's also now won 78 matches this year, one more than the injured world number one Roger Federer.
