Russian teenager Anna Chakvetadze faced fifth-seeded compatriot Nadia Petrova on Sunday in Moscow in the final of the Kremlin Cup. Petrova, playing with groin and chest injuries, saved four breakpoints in the seventh game of the first set before dropping her serve. She broke back immediately, but lost her next service game and ultimately the set - just the second one she had lost in five matches. Chakvetadze continued to control play in the second set and broke twice to lead 4-1. Though Petrova broke back in the sixth game, Chakvetadze forged ahead again and sealed a 6-4, 6-4 victory as Petrova returned into the net on the first match point. It was Chakvetadze's third win in three matches against Petrova this season. The victory will see the 24th-ranked Chakvetadze move into the top 20 for the first time in her career next week. For Petrova, the defeat was her first in six finals this season. She won her sixth career title at the Porsche Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany, last week. Sunday's match was the second all-Russian women's final at the Kremlin Cup. Two years ago, Anastasia Myskina lifted the trophy after defeating Elena Dementieva. (AP)
