New York:

It's a dream final at the US Open. 35-year-old veteran and home favourite Andre Agassi will play Roger Federer, arguably the best player in the world today. Agassi beat Robby Ginepri to become the oldest grand slam finalist since 1974 while Federer overcame Lleyton Hewitt, in the other men's semi-final. Seventh seed Andre Agassi was looking to overcome a persistent back problem and a hard-hitting Robby Ginepri. The American won the first set 6-4, much to the delight of the home crowd. Both players were evenly matched throughout hitting 55 winners including 17 aces and committing three double-faults each. Agassi won the first and third set, but Ginepri matched the 35-year-old stroke for stroke from the baseline taking the second and fourth. And after almost three hours and an epic five-set encounter, Agassi's experience would see him through to his first grand slam final of the year. Meanwhile, defending champion and top seed Roger Federer was up against third seed Lleyton Hewitt. And the Swiss maestro would wrap up the first set with one of his 59 winners. Hewitt fought hard to force a second set tie-break, but Federer closed the set out without allowing his opponent even a single point in the tie-break. But Hewitt played some amazing groundstrokes. He had 45 winners in the game including 6 aces, but committed 41 unforced errors and 8 double faults. And the Australian would clinch the third set 6-4 with this forehand. But Federer went on to win the fourth set, to complete a 6-3, 7-6, 4-6, 6-3 victory and set up a mouth-watering clash with Andre Agassi in the final of this, the last grand slam of the year.
