Oeiras:
Top-seeded David Nalbandian beat No 2 Nikolay Davydenko 6-3, 6-4 on Sunday to become the third two-time winner of the Estoril Open. Nalbandian - who won in 2002 a€" now joins Carlos Costa of Spain, winner in 1992 and '94, and Thomas Muster of Austria, champion in 1995-96, as the other two-time victors at Estoril. a€œIt was great,'' Nalbandian said. a€œTo return four years later after the first triumph and to win again is very positive. This has been a very good week for me.'' Davydenko, who earlier struggled with back pains, admitted he was not in the best of shape. a€œI didn't feel any pain but I was not in shape, maybe due to tiredness,'' Davydenko said. a€œToday Nalbandian was unarguably better. I couldn't focus like I should have and there was little I could do in this final.'' Earlier, sixth-seeded Zheng Jie of China won the women's final when eighth-seeded Na Li retired with leg cramps after two sets. a€œI am very happy with this tournament,'' Zheng said. a€œI am very sorry Na Li quit and was injured. I think we played a good match during the first two sets. This was the Chinese women tournament.'' Na - last year's runner-up - won the first set 7-6 (5), but Zheng took the second 7-5 and Na withdrew after being assisted by a trainer. a€œLast year I lost the final so this year I really wanted to win, this being an historic final and all,'' Zheng's only other title was at Hobart, Australia, in 2005.
