Rushmi moves into second round

Top seed Rushmi Chakravarthy of India moves into the second round of the Reliance ITF Women Circuit Tennis tournament.

Bangalore:Top seed Rushmi Chakravarthy of India trounced Korea's Sujinkim 6-3, 6-0 to move into the second round of the Reliance ITF Women Circuit Tennis tournament here today. Elena Vesnina of Russia ousted second seed Natalia Dziamidzenka of Bylorussia 4-6, 6-4, 6-2, while Diana Juljaio of Indonesia beat Liza Pereira of India 6-1, 6-3 in other matches of the day. Po-Kuen Lam of Hong Kong overcame a stiff resistance from Ryoko Watanabe of Japan to register a 6-1, 3-6, 6-0 win for a place in the second round. Arthi Venkatraman of India outplayed compatriot Iciri Rai 6-1, 6-4, while Sai Jayalakshmi (India) quelled the challenge of Sai Swapna Ramakrishna (India) 6-3, 6-4. Other Indians in the fray - Sonal Phadke, Samrita Sekhar and Sheetal Gautham - lost their respective matches to crash out of the tournament. In the doubles category, Indian pair of Perumal and Thukkaiandi beat compatriots Ashlesha Lokhande and Varsha Shivashankar 6-4, 6-3. Other Results of the first round matches:
