Dubai: Third-seeded Jiri Novak of the Czech Republic cruised through to the semifinals of the $1 million Dubai Men's Open following a straight-sets win over sixth seed Sjeng Schalken of the Netherlands. Novak stopped Schalken from getting into full stride on a hot and windy afternoon - winning 6-4, 6-4. "It was very hard and windy out there. I am glad I won,'' the 27-year-old Czech said after sealing the semifinal berth. In another quarterfinal, Tommy Robredo defeated Feliciano Lopez 6-7 (4), 6-3, 6-4 in an all-Spanish affair. (AP)
